I know I’ve been MIA for a looooong while now. Social media is something that I have a love/hate relationship with and I’m trying to move past the hate portion of our relationship right now. Anxiety is a serious beast to overcome though and I’ve spent the last few years trying to deal with a lot of self doubt that at times prevented me from even wanting to pick up a pencil. I had a really inspiring conversation with my wedding photographer today (I’m getting married!)though and it made me think about how much I’ve isolated myself from creative endeavors. I have so many ideas that float around in my head but it’s like there’s been this huge wall that’s been stopping me from letting them out. So, I need to move forward. There’s this bit in the song Rosa Parks by @outkast that goes: I met a gypsy and she hipped me to some life game To stimulate then activate the left and right brain Said, "Baby boy, you only funky as your last cut You focus on the past, your ass'll be a 'has-what'" ...and every time I hear this bit I think about how I need to do more, create more, put myself out there more. What I’ve done isn’t nearly as important as what I’m going to do. So, here’s my last cut. It’s been buried in a drawer in my studio. That’s me in the center and I was definitely harkening back to this thing I did in college where I layered up multiple images and focused more on self-exploration than on myths and magic. I look at this and see that there was definitely some serious discomfort about where my mind was at (those birds!). I want to move past that though. I need to move past that.
